Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

This post is sponsored by Nordstrom and ShopStyle.

Okay, so you may have seen the Nordstrom sale hype around social media already but I’m going to tell a couple of reasons why I actually really love this Anniversary Sale… They don’t just put old stock on sale, there are also lots of new arrivals. I went in store to shop on the first day of the sale so I was anticipating chaos but everyone working there was still so helpful! Also, everything can be returned! I always feel so much pressure when sales are final, I need to be able to try it on at home with my own accessories before fully committing. If you’re shopping online then free shipping and free returns (or curbside pickup, helloooo.)

I went mostly for activewear because I something that I don’t buy often since it usually more expensive but, realistically, out of all my clothes I probably wear my yoga pants the most often ;). I also came home with a couple other items that I’ll link for you.

First up, These yoga pants are also by Zella and they are nice and thick (my undie lines thank you, Zella). I like that they are a true highhhhh rise because I don’t like my belly button sticking out. And seriously such a good price! Here is a link to the crop pair that I was torn between.

Next, high neckline sports bras. I think the cut is super flattering. I usually look for sports bras where there is a tight bottom to the bra underneath the layer that you see, so the top layer is sitting on top and longer than the bra. The reason I love that is because then it still holds you tight without making squeezed skin line on the top of your tummy.

I also linked a Halogen Cardigan and Natori Bra I bought. I got the cardigan in light grey, it’s so soft! This Natori bra is the first “real bra” I’ve bought in a long time (I always wear bralettes!) I got it in nude and it’s been really comfy. The other sweater by Thread & Supply that I linked below is the softest thing you’ll ever feel, it would be perfect for running errands and going for walks in the fall (the pockets connect, so cozy). The sale lasts through August 4th and then the prices go back up! If you want to shop the sale early next year, make sure to sign up for a Nordstrom credit card and receive exclusive perks, like Early Access to the Anniversary Sale and more!

Trying out Charcoal Toothpaste with Tom’s of Maine

I have a thing for white teeth, I mean, most people probably do… but I’ve tried a lot of whitening options over the years. One of my friends did tell me about going to visit one of the Central Point dentist offices to get my teeth whitened. She said they really brightened her teeth and made her feel much more confident in herself. While we are talking about teeth, another friend of mine recently had some dental implants fitted by a Dentist in Greenbelt. She is so pleased with her new smile and her self-esteem has really been improved. There are other procedures you can get to improve your smile too. For example, an old colleague of mine who had always been insecure about her Square face recently had a jawline slimming treatment. It turns out, Botox and dermal fillers can now be used to soften your jawline, resulting in a more youthful and feminine appearance. As with any cosmetic procedure though, it is fundamental that you do your research first to find the right treatment for you. Since I naturally have more sensitive teeth and also try to be very intentional about what is in the products that our whole family uses, I was drawn to this Tom’s of Maine Activated Charcoal Toothpaste. It’s the gentlest charcoal toothpaste against other natural brands and it removes surface stains and gently whitens daily. There are so many reasons why this brand aligns well with my values and why it was an obvious choice to join the Tom’s of Maine goodness circle. Naturally, before trying a product like this you should speak to a local dentist to make sure it suits your needs. Always remember Desert Creek Dental in Queen Creek is just a phone call away if you are ever in need of oral-related advice.

I’ve tried whitening with loose activated charcoal over the past couple years, and it does work, but I was never motivated to do it because it always made a mess. Enter, charcoal toothpaste, and not just any toothpaste, Tom’s of Maine is such a wonderful brand! Here are a few of the things that really make them stand out.

  • It’s all natural, you can get with or without fluoride
  • it is super gentle, specially crafted for everyday use to be safe and gentle on your enamel, based on RDA testing
  • Helps protect against cavities
  • SLS-free
  • No artificial flavours, colors, or preservatives
  • Vegan
  • Not tested on animals

Lastly, 10% of Tom’s of Maine profits go back to supporting people and the planet, love that.

Disclosure: Products and compensation were provided to me by Tom’s of Maine, but my opinions are my own.

Our Backyard Makeover

I really love getting to spruce up a space I’ve done a lot of that on the inside of our house but the outside was overdue. Since we have so much backyard the task was a little daunting but we just focused on that patio area by the house. You can see a before photo in my Instagram post here. I’ll put all the links to everything at the bottom of the post for you. Even focusing on one section of the outside can be a big task to pull off, we wanted to make sure that we made it look good. We were recommended patio cleaning services to really get it looking its best.

We thought that doing a little section of our backyard at a time would help us to pay full attention to the task at hand. And luckily for us, it worked. We couldn’t be happier with how the patio has turned out and now it gives us the opportunity to use it more than what we would’ve done before. I’m so excited to finally be able to make the most out of this space, as it’s something that I have surprisingly missed. But I wanted to make sure that it was done right, so that’s when my friend pointed me in the direction of a Concrete Contactor company in her area to see if they can sort my patio out for me. They looked really professional, but by the time she told me about this, we were already well underway with our project. We might consider them for future projects though. But regardless of how it was done, I couldn’t be prouder of the finished product, and I can’t wait to continue using it. We have recently been thinking about what we can do with the rest of the garden, as I said before, we just have a lot of backyard space to use. Our friends told to us that we should think about maybe using decking boards to build our own deck, as they think it would look really good with some more garden furniture on it. They said that it would be great for entertaining. After thinking about it, they could be right but we’d need to have an in-depth conversation about it before giving our backyard a further makeover. For now, we’re just pleased with how our patio has turned out! Now it’s time for us to start looking up some patio poly chairs, so we can enjoy the sun with everyone when the season is here, it’s all coming together now.

My Hair

Before you take this (or any hair colour/cut) to your hair dresser and ask for the same thing remember that styles look very difference depending on the person. As a past hair stylist I feel the need to remind you of that 😉

Pictures are super helpful when explaining what you want so I’ve added some close ups of the colour here.

The general idea of my hair is a balayage – Level 7 at the roots and 10 at the ends, lots of focus around the face. Some blonder pieces thrown in there to add dimension. The full head is coloured (as opposed to a half head which leaves out the underneath layers of your hair.

Olaplex shampoo & conditioner (shown below) was suggested to me since I have quiet fragile hair, so going blonde is a dangerous idea but this has really been helping keep the integrity of my hair, highly recommend! Although all the credit needs to go to the kick ass stylist that gave my ends tender love and care during the lightening process.

When styling my hair is use a 1 inch curling iron (exact one linked below) and will sometimes flat iron over the ends. I’ve also added links to some favourite styling products.
