Waking Up Poppy

This blog is somewhat of a baby diary for Poppy, so I want to post the little things that I want to remember about this quickly moving time with her. One of my favourite parts of the day is when she wakes up in the morning, and after her naps. I hear babbling from her room and whenever I open the door she always reminds me of a kid when you catch in the middle of playing make believe and they’re a little embarassed that you saw.

I know that Poppy is a getting pretty old to be swaddled, but she sleeps soooo much better that way, so why mess with a good thing.

Theres no door handle on her bedroom door because it’s the perfect peep hole to check on her without having to open that squeaky old door.

I am doing something similar with my daughter – keeping a monthly journal (on Word) of the things she is doing, learning, etc. Although, I think a picture diary would be easier and more convenient – plus a great way to actually SEE the progress. I take way more pictures of her than I do remembering to track her progress, so perhaps I should also try compiling a photo diary! Love your blog and pics! I love making new "mama friends" so contact me if you feel the desire to chat 🙂

    Hi Bethany,

I am really enjoying your blog and all the photos you’ve shared on Instagram. As a new momma, I am really appreciating all the tips, everyday life experiences, and product suggestions (like the slings). My little man, Arthur, is 14 weeks old and also sleeps MUCH better when he is swaddled (he startles and wakes himself up without it). I don’t see that it will change anytime soon. But I have been warned by many parents: "once he rolls over, swaddling can get unsafe, so you want to stop then," which makes me a tad nervous.

I’m assuming your little Poppy is now completely weaned, but how do you feel about that comment? Did you feel like swaddling became unsafe at some point? If so, when? And any tips on swaddling/blanket brand suggestions to keep it safe longer (I use Aden & Anais)? Finally, how did your little one start to sleep without being swaddled?

I apologize for all the questions, but any insight/advice/opinion would go a long way.

I wish you to have a happy Valentine’s Day weekend. Oh and CONGRATULATION on baby #2! What a beautiful news that is.

    Best Regards,
    Charlene
