Thank you for visiting! I have currently taken a step back from social media and blogging. But I did want to leave our blog posts about Goldie up here on the site, all other posts have been archived for now. Love Bethany

substitutes

I have been vegan for about 2 weeks now and it’s easier than i thought. I guess also because I feel strongly about it, It’s not a sacrifice for me to give up animal products.

I have replaced

-milk with flax milk

-sugar with agave nectar (I know sugar isn’t an animal product, just a health choice)

-butter with earth balance

-flour with rice flour (david is gluten free)

-eggs can easily be substituted in recipes, but we have stopped eating them on their own

-Cheese I have just avoided this past week, Haven’t even looked into subs yet.

A friend gave me Alicia Silverstone’s book “The Kind Diet” on being vegan and I have been devouring it!! It’s really informative and simple. From what I’ve read so far I would definitely recommend it, I am consantly bombarding David with all the facts i’m learning.

In the photo is a meal I have been making a lot the past week, I looovvvve it! It is spinach, quinoa, and pumpkin seeds with a vinagrette of olive oil, honey, and lemon juice. Topped with diced yams grilled with onions, and then sliced avacado. nom nom.

going vegan isn't as hard as it seems! and you feel so good that you really don't miss anything that much. I'm about 80% vegan, and I have some recipe's up on my site that you may like 🙂

love this blog by the way!

I haven't found a good substitute for ALL cheese but nutritional yeast is a good substitute for parmesan (at least when being sprinkled on top)

I really want to switch over to being vegan. It just seems so much healthier.

You need to read Kimberly Snyder's "The Beauty Detox Diet" – her blog is great too. I love all of her recipes and she explains it all so well. Highly recommend!!

Okay, now I'm really tempted to try going vegan – even for a week. I've always been really intimidated by the idea, but I love all the ingredients in your salad, so maybe I'll give it a try 🙂

Your blog is an absolute delight. I'm so glad I stumbled upon it!

    love, heather m.

Found your blog via The Little Lady. My husband and I switched to a vegan diet last May and we're still at it. Surprised us how easy it was and how many great recipes we never would've tried if it weren't for us eating an all over healthier diet. Glad you are liking the changes. 🙂

this looks delicious! Have you had any problems since you went vegan? I have a close friend who actually did the opposite and went Primal and she had some major headaches and such the first few days. Just curious if it works the same way! 🙂

    Found you through TJ! 🙂

    OMG I love your blog!
I wanted to ask you: how do you get your protein? do you make sure you geit from the right veggies or how does it work? it seems hard to be vegetarian and not gain weight by eating too many carbs

Brittany: I use VSCO for LIghtroom

A rambling fancy: I haven't had any problems! My husband and I have felt way better actually. Haven't experienced after meal guilt, or feeling so heavy needing to lay down after dinner. It feels good to eat light foods regularly throughout the day.

Lauren: We eat A LOT of beans, and avocado for protein. We have both actually lost weight since changing to vegan! but we don't much starch we try to eat mostly vegetables, So even when we do have a heavier meal we don't even have to feel bad about it! I think you have to be conscious not just about staying away from animal products but eating healthy too, Less processed foods, and ready made meals. Spending the time to plan healthy balanced meals.
